Fear of the Unknown

Man fears the unknown, he casts aways his fear, by asking questions about the unknown and answering them with his own ideas. Which explains the existence of fairy tales, legends, myths, even theories.

The story about the existence of purgatory came to be because man fears after death experience. Stories about monsters, ghosts and vampires came to be because man fears strange looking things at night. Theories on man’s beginning came to be because man fears the truth that there is a God.

Man fears the unknown, so he reduces it to the terms that are most familiar to him, whether that’s a folktale, or that’s a disease, or that’s a conspiracy. These terms serve as scapegoats, but never calms the fear within.
